Whether it was a logjam at the tight end position or the continuation of an organizational rebuild, the Eagles traded three-time Pro Bowl tight end, Zach Ertz, to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, signaling a changing of the guard.
Here’s what’s next for Philadelphia moving forward.

It really is more about nature taking its course and although Ertz should have retired with the organization, that option went out the window the minute Dallas Goedert was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Dallas Goedert was surprised by the Eagles cutting off contract talks earlier this summer and it’ll be interesting to see if those discussions resume or if Howie Roseman watches to see how the versatile tight end responds to an uptick in targets.
Outside of the obvious with Ertz, Jack Stoll and Noah Togiai will be names to watch, while Tyree Jackson is the straw that makes this drink easier to swallow.
If Jackson can continue to his accelerated development, Howie Roseman could have himself a diamond.
Continuation of roster rebuild

There will need to be decisions made on players like Brandon Graham, Brandon Brooks, Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, Derek Barnett, and other big named Eagles on the roster.
Outside of Goedert, Landon Dickerson, Jordan Mailata, Josh Sweat, Darius Slay, Steven Nelson, and Jack Driscoll, anyone not in the Howie Roseman long-term vision should be made available or allowed to seek other options going forward.

That player could be Davion Taylor, but some of his collisions with Leonard Fournette on Thursday night show that we’re a long way from that designation.
After getting a close-up look at Fred Warner, Deion Jones, Micah Parsons, Devin White, and other dynamic linebackers on opposing teams, it’s quite evident that Howie Roseman has to finally add a game-changing linebacker to the roster.
