Halyna Hutchins’ husband says Alec Baldwin being ‘very supportive’

The husband of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed when Alec Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun on set, told the Post Friday the actor was being “very supportive” in the wake of the tragic incident.

“I have spoken with Alec Baldwin and he’s been very supportive,” Hutchins’ husband Matthew said.

Matthew, who was married to Hutchins for 16 years, is currently in Santa Fe with their nine-year-old son, the Post has learned.

Hutchins, 42, had been working as the director of photography on Baldwin’s upcoming Western film “Rust” when the tragic accident unfolded Thursday at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe.

She was airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, where she died from her injuries. The film’s director, Joel Souza, 48, was injured and released from a hospital.

Hutchins’ body is currently with medical examiners at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine pending an autopsy, a spokesperson told the Post.

Her official cause of death won’t be released until the autopsy is complete, which typically takes at least six weeks, the spokesperson added.

“There are so many unanswered questions,” Hutchins’ mother-in-law, Teresa Hutchins, told the Post.

“She was a very lovely young woman. And I knew when I first met her that she would wind up being my daughter-in-law.”

Hollywood gossip site Showbiz 411 said that after the shooting Baldwin started asking how he could have been given a “hot gun” — meaning a firearm loaded with real ammunition – immediately after the shooting happened.

“In all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun,” the actor allegedly kept saying.

The witness said Baldwin was in shock after the ordeal and he “had no idea how badly they were hurt or Halyna was dead.”

The film set was sent into lockdown and production was halted immediately after the accidental double shooting, which unfolded at about 2 p.m.

“Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

No charges have been filed.
