The Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card from American Express is a rewards credit card. It offers three points per dollar at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 in annual purchases (one point per dollar after that), two points per dollar on AmexTravel.com purchases and at U.S. gas stations, and one point per dollar on all other purchases. When you make 30 or more purchases with your card in a billing period (excluding returns and other credits), you will earn 50% extra points. When you spend $2,000 within the first six months, you’ll earn 15,000 in bonus points.
For the first 12 months, there is a 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers, then the APR is 18.24% to 28.24% variable. The card offers benefits, including car rental loss and damage insurance, a Global Assist hotline for emergencies, and purchase return protection.
The Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card earns 50% more rewards by making at least 30 purchases each billing cycle, so it’s a good idea to use this card if you make that many purchases – even if those purchases are small.
While rewards are a major feature of the Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card, the 12-month 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers can be helpful, too. That could make it easier to pay off a large purchase or high-interest balance from another card without paying interest. Just make sure you pay your balance in full before interest applies.
You can earn solid rewards on everyday purchases with the Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card, especially if you make at least 30 purchases each billing cycle. However, since the Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card only earns three points per dollar at U.S. supermarkets on the first $6,000 spent annually, you should use another rewards card after you meet that threshold if you want to earn the most from your grocery purchases.
