Frequent Amazon shoppers can get value from the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card. Rewards earning is the main draw and the rewards are easy to redeem. You might save up your Amazon rewards to cash out for holiday spending on Amazon.com.

Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card rewards can be redeemed on your Amazon checkout screen when you pay for purchases. Or you can opt to get cash back, gift cards or travel on Chase.com. If you pay for your Amazon.com purchases with your Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card and then redeem cash back to your card, you can still earn rewards while making a redemption – a bit of a double dip.

Just don’t let rewards earning encourage you to overspend, as this is not a card you should carry a balance on. With no 0% introductory APR and a 18.99% to 26.99% APR, you’ll pay interest on any balance you carry month to month.

Editor’s Take

The Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card is one of a handful of cards you can use to earn rewards on Amazon purchases. It’s not as powerful as the Prime Visa, which earns a larger gift card on approval and earns more rewards on Amazon, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods and Chase Travel purchases. However, the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card doesn’t require a paid Prime membership to use the card, which the Prime Visa does.

If you use Amazon.com for business purchases, you might benefit from the Amazon Business American Express Card, which earns 3% back on U.S. purchases at Amazon Business, AWS, Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market on the first $120,000 in purchases each calendar year. Alternatively, you can choose 60-day terms to spread out payments instead of earning rewards. Amazon Business cardholders with a Prime membership will earn even more rewards.

The Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card offers a $60 Amazon.com gift card upon approval. The gift card value will increase to $100 if you have an eligible Amazon Prime membership upon approval for the card. The sign-up bonus is automatic and requires no minimum spending.

The Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card earns rewards at its highest rate – 3% back – at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods and Chase Travel. It’s also a good idea to use the card when making purchases with U.S. restaurants, U.S. gas stations or local transit, where you’ll earn 2% back. The card offers 1% back on all other purchases.

If you frequently shop with Amazon and Whole Foods, you might consider investing in an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 a year. A Prime membership comes with free shipping benefits on Amazon.com, which means the membership cost may pay for itself for frequent Amazon shoppers. Eligible Prime members can also get the Prime Visa, which earns 5% back on Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods and Chase Travel.

You can redeem your points for cash or to make purchases at Amazon.com. It’s also possible to redeem for travel, gift cards and more.
